Date Assigned Class Activities Assignments
8/15

We will go over the class contract, folder, index cards and the syllabus. We will also talk about tardy policies. change of schedule policies. After all of that I will answer any questions on the summer assignment. We will start with 1.1 find the limits graphically and numerically and properties of limits, on Monday.

We will go through all of the forms that we need to fill out.

8/16 We will start with 1.1 find the limits graphically and numerically and properties of limits. This is a review. We will have a pre-calculus test on Friday (50 questions no calculator). I would just like to know how much you guys remember about last year. What I need to review and how to group everyone.

8/19 First, we will go over the homework. I will answer any question you have on the homework. 1.2 Limits of Functions Using Properties+ Little Trig. I will go over how to Evaluate a limit using properties of limits, develop a strategy for finding limits, evaluate a limit dividing out and rationalizing techniques, and finding a limit using the Squeeze Theorem. Then maybe a quiz on 1.1

8/21 Pre-Calculus Test today
8/26 I will go over any questions on the homework 1.2. We will then review the concept of continuity. I will review the three conditions that define continuity. I will talk about Mr. Bill and how he can be used to determine continuity. We will go over "Removable Discontinuities" and "Nonremovable Discontinuities". We will go over the properties of continuity, what it means to be on an open or closed interval. I will then introduce the intermediate value theorem and go over how it relates to continuity. Hopefully a quiz next class.

8/28 First, we will go over the homework, and review the test. Then we will go over how to deal with vertical asymptotes. We will look at limits and graphs to determine if a denominator is zero what is the effect on the graph and the limit. Then I hope we can finally take the quiz.

9/4

Today’s lesson looks at limits as the function approaches infinity, and what horizontal asymptotes the functions are bound by. First, we will go over the homework. Then we will go through the infinity limits work, then maybe a quiz.

We do have class today. Friday is an odd day

First, I will hand back the quiz. Then we will go over any questions on the homework or quiz (I will probably go through the whole thing anyway). Then we will split into teams and do the station review. I will assign a practice test for homework. Next class we will go over the review test and maybe have the chapter 1 test on Wednesday of next week.

9/9 Today we will review for the Limits test, and I will introduce derivatives. First, we will look at the homework from last class. Then we will look at average rate of change and instantaneous rate of change. I will go through how to find derivatives using limits. We will use some basic formulas that will show how to find slopes and how they relate to rates of change.

9/16

First, we will go over the homework. I will then introduce the power rule using different techniques of Binomial expansion. Then we will go through the proofs of the product and quotient rules. I will also go through the derivatives of trig functions. as well as the derivative of e to the x.

Then we may have a quiz next class.

We will have the quiz at the start of class. I will then review the chain rule.

We are going to do the position, velocity, and acceleration functions today. I will go through how the derivative of the position function is equal to the velocity function. I will then continue to the next derivative. Hopefully by the end of class the students understanding of physics will be a little stronger.

10/7 We didn't get a chance to start Implicit Differentiation lecture. I will give the lecture. We will go over the quiz . Then we will go through the homework. This will be a time thing; I will try and complete Implicit Differentiation. We will look at how to find slopes of graphs that are not necessarily functions.
