| Date Assigned | Class Activities | Assignments |
| 10/21 | Today we will look at inverse functions, inverse trig functions and how to take the derivative of these functions. We will look at how to find the derivatives of inverse functions using implicit differentiation. But first we will go over the homework, then take the quiz. |
Inverse trig and differentiation homework |
| 10/23 | Today, I will be running around the school doing administration stuff. The assignment is a review of what we did last class. The students can work in groups but need to keep the volume low. Thanks |
Homework page 350 #71-83 odd, page 379-80 #43-53 odd, #63-67 odd
| 10/25 | First, we will go over the Inverse Trig homework. Then we will look at Derivatives of Logarithmic Functions. After we go through the lecture, we will look at the Limits test. I will need these back at the end of class. The test next week will cover the power rule, product rule, quotient rule, chain rule, position, velocity, acceleration, and implicit differentiation. |

| 10/28 | Today, we will review the homework on logarithmic differentiation. Then we will go through the notes on Indeterminate Forms and L’Hôpital’s Rule. I will have homework. We will probably have the test next class. We will review the limits test as well.
| 10/30 | First we will go over the homework from last class. I will then go over the implicit differentiation quiz. I will then go over the review of der and review of quiz. review of rocket rules. |
Review assignment handout in class Water bottle rocket Packet SECME Bring in 2 litter soda bottle |
| 11/1 | We will start by going over the review for the test. We will then start setting up for the water bottle rocket build. I will go over some of the past successful designs. I will introduce the students to what supplies we have on hand. | Test next class. |
| 11/4 | test . | Test |
| 11/6 | Today we will start rocket process, start with build. First, we will go over the rules of the water bottle rocket competition. then we will go over teams, and the roles everyone needs to play. Then we will talk about different design options. |
Build rocket Notes |
| 11/13 | rocket launch and redesign |
| 11/15 | 2nd launch and start competition |
| 11/18 | final rocket competition. winners submitted
| 11/20 | Today we will go over the rocket report. We will talk about everything that needs to go into it. The report will be due after thanksgiving break. After reviewing the report, we will start with an introduction to related rates. First, we will have a quiz review of the chain rule. Then we are on to related rates. I will go over how to setup the problems and the steps to find the answer. The setup for related rates is very important and needs to be followed in each problem. |
| 12/2 | First, we will review related rates. We will model as a class how to set up these equations. We will then have a related rates worksheet. I will have the class work in groups on the problems. We will then use the random number generator to determine who goes to tyhe board to explain how to solve each problem. |
Homework: Related rates review (handout) maybe a related rates quiz next class |
| 12/4 | Today we are going to go over critical points and extrema. We will look at what different derivatives mean about max/mins. We will look at how that related to Max/mins on an interval. But first we will go over the related rates homework. I would like to have a related rates test on Friday. |
| 12/6 | First, we will review the homework. Then I will go over the concept of Rolle’s and then the MVT. We will go through the conditions that need to be met before using the theorems. Then we will go through what they mean. Then the class will let me know what rocket videos that they felt went the highest. |
| 12/9 or 12/11 | We will review the homework. Then we will practice as a class going over more related rates work. There is a new handout that the students will solve and then present. | Related rates work sheet (printed in class) (due at the end of class) Zoom Monday Zoom Wednesday |
| 12/16 | related rates test |
Related rates test today |
| 12/18 | We have gone over all the homework, so we will just start the lesson. Today we are going to learn about how graphs and derivatives are related. We will look at the derivatives to determine intervals on which the function is increasing, decreasing, or staying constant. We will be able to determine what a function is doing based on the graph of the derivative. Then you can start your homework. |
4.2 increasing/decreasing functions |
| 1/6 | I have graded the related rates tests. I will put them in the gradebook during 5th period today. We will look at the homework from 4.2. Then we will start to go over what concavity tells us about the function and the graph of the function. We will go through what a graph that is concave up means for the slope of the graph. Same thing in reverse. |
4.4 Local Extrema and Concavity Quiz next class on Unit Circle. Need to know degrees, radians, and coordinates. You will fill in a blank unit circle. |
| 1/8 | Today's quiz will be to just fill in a complete unit circle. I can get it done in about 2 minutes. Students should be able to finish in less than 10 minutes. First, we will go over the homework. Then I will give the quiz. After that we will start the lecture on linear approximations. I will show how to find the tangent line and how it works to make an approximation. I will also use concavity to determine if the approximations are over or under estimates. |
| 1/10 | I'm sorry I will not be in today. Please look at the video, and the PowerPoint. You will be practicing how to sketch curves using derivatives. Remember, the first derivative set equal to zero or undefined will get you max/mins if the slope changes signs. The second derivative set equal to zero will get you inflection points (if the sign of the second derivative changes on both sides of the point). I included some of the answers on the homework, so you can see if you are on the right track. |
| 1/13 | I will be on zoom this morning. I will start around 7:30. We will go over any questions from the last 2 homeworks. I will then introduce optimizations. We will work through the steps of how to solve these types of problems. |
| 1/15 | Today I will introduce the concept of integration. I might just do a quick lesson and then focus on going over what was completed while I was out sick. I would also like to give back the related rates tests and go over them as much as possible. | |
