| Date Assigned | Class Activities | Assignments |
| 1/22 | First, we will finish going over the related rates test. I will then go over any questions on the homework on integration. Today I will introduce Riemann sums. I will introduce right left, midpoint, and trapezoidal sums. We will also compare these to definite integrals. We will look at how limits and these sums are related to definite integrals. |
|
| 1/24 | Today I would like to slow down and review integration. I've seen some mistakes and sloppy work. I would like to show the students how complex integration will get. So today I will show the students a more complex example and then give them work to build thier foundation. I will also be signing the sheets for next year. |
Page 255-6 #1-44 all
|
| 1/27 | First, we will review any questions that the students have on the page 255 homework. I will then review the concept of definite integrals. We will look at graphs and the rules of derivatives. There may be a quiz next class on definite integrals. |
|
| 1/29 | First, we will go over the homework. We will have a quiz today, based on the homework. Then we will look at Mean value theorem for integrals. We will go over the concept of average value. I will go through how to find these values using definite integrals. Then the students will take a quiz at the end of the class. | |
| 2/3 | Today we will be looking at how definite integrals are used to determine net changes. First, we will review the homework and quiz from last class. Then we will look at the Net Change Theorem. We will go over rate in, rate out and how they are used to determine total net change. We will also look at how displacement can be determined using the Net Change Theorem. I will also go over the difference between displacement and distance. |
5.4 Properties of the Definite Integral
|
| 2/5 | First, we will go over the homework from last class. I will walk the class through any difficult problems. I may use the random number generator for solutions. |
5.4 Properties of the Definite Integral Maybe a quiz next class on the second Fundamental theorem of Calculus. |
| 2/10 | First, we will review the homework from last class. I will then introduce the concept of integration using substituation. We will look at how we can use substituation to create integrals that we can take. We will also look at how some trig integrals can be simplified using natural logs. There maybe a quiz today on the second Fundamental theorem of Calculus. | |
| 2/12 | First, we will go over the homework from last class. |
|
| 2/14 | will not be in class today. You have a Chapter 4 review (applications of derivatives). There will be a copy for every student. Please have the review completed by Wednesday Feb 19. This is the only time you will be in class before then. Work with the students around you to answer any questions. | Test Review Chapter 4 (apps of Derivatives) next class: probably a second quiz today on the integration using substituation |
| 2/19 | Today we will go over the review. I will also answer any questions on the work from 5.5 day 2. There will be a test next class, and probably a quiz today on the integration using substitution. |
Test on Chapter 4 next class. |
| 2/24 | Chapter 4 test
|
Chapter 4 test Students can turn in the study packet today |
| 2/26 | We will have the second quiz on integration using substituation. Students can turn in 5.5 Pt. 2 Homework Q: U-Sub Day 2 today. I will go over any questions on the homework. We need to find time for an integration test. We will then start looking at how to find the area between 2 curves. We will look at where these curves meet, and how we can use integration to find the area. Rain falls down, or from right to the left. We use this concept to determine which setup we use (dy or dx). |
students can turn in 5.5 Pt. 2 Homework Q: U-Sub Day 2 today.
|
| 2/28 | First, we will go over the 5.2 homework on integration using substitution. Then we will look at the homework on area between curves. There is a quiz today on 5.2. Today we are going to learn about the disc method. This concept lets us find the volume of objects that don't fit the normal formulas. The Disc method is basically adding up the volumes of different size paper plates. We will look at Desmos 3-d graphs to have an idea about what these shapes look like. Then I will give the quiz on 5.2 |
|
| 3/3 | First, we will go over the quiz and the 2 homework assignments. I will introduce the Washer method to finding volumes today. We will look at how to create a washer using 2 discs. We will then sketch and model an integral using the washer method. |
|
| 3/5 | First, we will review the homework. We will look at disc vs washer method. We will also work on being able to draw in 3 dimensions. Then we are going to start with cross sections. First, we will look at how we created the formulas for the disc and washer method. I will then review the areas of certain shapes and how these shapes can be used with integration to find volumes created using cross sections. | 6.4: Volume Cross Section power point |
| 3/7 | First, we will go over the homework on Cross Sections. I know this is a tough section. We need to talk about when we want to take the test on integration. We will review Chapter 5 today in class (Integration). I will have the students in groups working at the boards or together on paper. The last 30 minutes I would like to have a quiz on Disc and Washer method. We are about to start the review process for the AP Exam. |
|
| 3/10 | First, we will review the quiz from last class. Next class we have a chapter 5 test. Today, we will review any questions on Chapter 5. I'm going to assign a review assignment for Monday 3/17. |
|
| 3/12 | Because we have a large section of the class that was not present for the last week and we have a shortened class today, we will not have the test today. We will not have it on Monday the 17th as well. We have a guest speaker on 3/17/2025 to go over how to write out the FRQ section of the AP Calculus test. Today we will go over the limits packet. I'm assigning the next review packet (Linear approximation and Differential equations packet). There is also a slope field video that I would like you to look at. |
|
| 3/17 | Today we are going to go over test taking strategies |
|
| 3/19 | Chapter 5 test |
Chapter 5 test |
| 3/21 | Today we will go over the second part of the MCQ's as well as the IVT, MVT, etc. packet. I'm assigning an Implicit differentiation, related rated and optimization packet. We will have a quiz on Graph interpretation. |
Implicit differentiation, related rated and optimization packet |
| 4/2 | Today we have an extended class. First, we will review all the packet questions that we have not answered. I will also review the concepts behind Particle motion and curve sketching. You will work in groups today and I will walk around to see how everyone is progressing. Your homework will be particle motion and curve sketching (I hope you will finish most of it in class). Remember It's 4th quarter, you are one the wrong assignment sheet. |
