9/12

First we will review the quiz and homework from last class. I will then review set notation, inequalities, number lines, and absolute values with inequalities. We will look at the differences between an absolute value with a greater and less then sign. We may have a quiz next class in section p.9.

P.9 HW - Linear Inequalities and Absolute Value

9/17

After talking to several students in the class. The students want to use the Chapter 1 Skills Review Homework as a test review. So while the homework will still be due on 9/19. We will spoend today going over any questions the class has on the homework or any random questions on P.2-9.

Test on P.2-9

9/24

First, I will review what a number line looks like and how to plant points on a number line. I will then review how to plot (x,y) points on a Cartesian graph.  I will also review how to create a set of points to graph based on an equation.  I will show how we graph these sets of points.  We will look at the dimensions of a Cartesian graph are determined.   Then the class will have time to start their homework.  Since everyone took the test, I will open it and the students can look at mistakes that they made.  I will also go over any questions that they have.

1.1 Graphs and Graphing Utilities

Zoom

Notes

9/26

First, we will review the homework. Then we will review the concept of domain and range.  Then we will look at how inequalities can be used to show the values of domain and range.  We will look at relations and determine the domain and range and determine if the relation is a function or not.  From here we will review the vertical line test.  I will also go over how to find a value of a function using a graph.  We will then go over how to find the value of an equation given the independent variable, and how to solve an equation for a variable. Then I will let the class work on the assignment.

1.2 Basics of Functions and Their Graphs

9/27

Because or the weather, 30% of the class was absent, we will do the lesson fopr yesterday, today. There will be a quiz on Tuesday on 1.1 and 1.2.

Zoom

Notes

10/1

First, I will go over any homework the students have.  Then we will look at what symmetry over the x-axis, y-axis, and origin looks like.  We will then look at what the functions do when we input (-x).  This will help determine if there is any symmetry and what kind there is.  We will then look at the graphs to determine relative max and mins, as well as intervals of increase or decrease.  We will then look at how piece wise functions work.  We will look at how these functions are graphed.  The last part of the 1.3 lesson will be to introduce the concept of F(x+h) and how it is used.
I will then move on to lines.  We will look at what slope is and how to find the slope between 2 points.  We will then move onto point slope and slope intercept functions.   I will go over how to create these equations using just a slope and a point, or two points. We will then look at how to graph a line given one of these equations.   I will talk about how the slope is the path and a given point is the start.

Today we are going to throw in perpendicular and parallel lines and how to find their equations. First we will look at the slpoe of each (perpendicular and parallel). Then we will look at how to find a point and how to move on from there. The line videos on 10/1 (Linear fun#3) do go over these concepts. If there is time we will have a quiz on 1.1-1.3.
